What does it take to get a New Jersey License?

Nearly all professional licenses issued by the state require background check, instruction and/or experience, and testing. But how much instruction do you need for a state license in each field?

Here's how much pre-licensing education you need to become a:

Cosmetologist-hairstylist you must complete 1,200 hours of instruction

Manicurist you must complete 300 hours of instruction

Skin care specialist you must complete a 600-hour course.

Electrical Contractors must complete a combination of formal education, apprenticeship, and/or experience, totaling a minimum of 5 years.

Heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) contractors need a combination of formal education, apprenticeship, and/or experience, totaling approximately 5 years.

And to become a licensed NJ Real Estate Agent? Just 75 Hours of pre-licensing education. To obtain the "advanced" license of NJ Real Estate Broker is an additional 150 hours of education and 3 years experience.

Why do I point this out? Because it's important to work with a real estate agent who goes above and beyond in their education and practice of their field - just holding a license doesn't cut it.

No one likes a long, boring bio of certifications, but it's an insight into the the time, effort that goes into voluntary continuing education to offer the best skills and knowledge to clients:
